
Dr. Thomas Lipscomb is a Professor of Educational Research. He is a former associate dean for the College of Education and Psychology at USM, co-chair of the Educational Research and Administration Department, and is professor emeritus of psychology at Southeastern Louisiana University where he served as Head of the Department of Psychology. He is a recipient of the President’s Award for Teaching Excellence at SLU. While in Louisiana, Dr. Lipscomb was an affiliate member of the graduate faculty at Louisiana State University (LSU).
Dr. Lipscomb earned the B.A. and M.S. degrees in psychology from the University of New Orleans. He holds the Ph.D. degree in psychology with a specialization in developmental psychology from LSU. Dr. Lipscomb is licensed to practice psychology in the State of Louisiana.
Dr. Lipscomb has been active in consulting and the independent practice of developmental psychology specializing in working with children and developmentally disabled individuals. Dr. Lipscomb supervised psychological services for a public school system and at a large residential center for developmentally disabled persons. He has also served as a consultant to the State of Louisiana and to private providers in the area of developmental disabilities. Dr. Lipscomb was also a member of the medical staff at a large comprehensive medical center.
